The Super Bowl is this Sunday! I know I sound so excited, but what I am actually excited for is the food and the commercials. I have no interest in the actual game. My husband on the other hand is all about the game. My kids could really care less about either. This year we are having a low key Super Bowl get together. In years past we have had big parties and have gone to big parties. I don’t think I could handle that this year. We are so busy and I am looking forward to being home with just my family and a few friends and their kids. Although we may have a few extra people show up for some of Kevin’s chili. It’s that good.
Speaking of food. Just because we are not having a big party does not mean I don’t want to have fun. I like to try to have something fun for the kids to do while the game is on. They love having people over and hanging out, but they really do not want to sit and watch a game. Or be quiet. So an idea for this year is to have a Hotel Transylvania movie night for the kids in the other room. My kids love that movie! So here is some kid friendly food inspired by Hotel Transylvania.
We just took some hot dogs and crescent rolls and cut them into slices. So easy and the kids had so much fun trying to make theirs look like worms. Baked for 10 minutes and done. They dipped them in ketchup and said they taste just like their favorite regular crescent dogs.
This was super easy too! We just used the remaining crescent roll dough and cut it into circles using a cookie cutter. Topped with our favorite pizza sause and strips of mozzarella cheese to make it look like a cute little mummy. We used olives for the eyes. I baked the dough for five minutes and then put the toppings on and baked for another five or six minutes. You could get super creative with your toppings and make all kinds of fun monsters. If you do, send me the link.
This is my daughter Chloe’s favorite thing to make for any holiday dinner. When we were talking about Hotel Transylvania, we all kept saying scream cheese, so of course she wanted to make her favorite recipe. The best part about this is that she can do it all herself. Sometimes she adds a peanut butter version for anyone who doesn’t like cream cheese. She likes to use raisins as her ants. So easy!
Time for dessert! We all have had some sort of variation of a dirt cake. There are so many different kinds, and you can’t mess it up! We thought it would be fun to take my son’s favorite dessert, chocolate pudding pie and make it a worms and dirt pie. We used mini graham cracker crust pie shells and instant chocolate pudding. We used a rolling pin to smash up Oreo cookies for the topping. Gummy worms are a perfect finishing touch! It doesn’t get easier than that!

We think the kids coming over on Sunday are going to love our Monster themed Hotel Transylvania movie party! I love that my kids can help me make all of these recipes ahead of time. So while the adults are all watching the game or in my case the commercials the kids are having a fun and special night too.
What are your plans for watching the Super Bowl? Do you have a party, go to a party, or just hang out and relax at home?
All opinions are my own.
